This study explores da'wah's spiritual and communicative aspects embedded in Sal Priadi's song "Gala Bunga Matahari." The research investigates how the sunflower metaphor is employed to convey themes of loss, hope, and emotional resilience in the context of da'wah through music. Utilizing a qualitative method with textual analysis, the study delves into the lyrical content to uncover the spiritual messages conveyed. The findings indicate that the song effectively serves as a medium for da'wah, facilitating spiritual reflection and providing solace to its listeners. The study concludes that music, as exemplified in this song, can significantly convey da'wah messages by addressing profound emotional and spiritual experiences.

[Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi aspek spiritual dan komunikatif dakwah yang tertanam dalam lagu "Gala Bunga Matahari" karya Sal Priadi. Penelitian ini menyelidiki bagaimana metafora bunga matahari digunakan untuk menyampaikan tema kehilangan, harapan, dan ketahanan emosional dalam konteks dakwah melalui musik. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui analisis teks, penelitian ini mengkaji isi lirik untuk mengungkap pesan spiritual yang disampaikan. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa lagu ini secara efektif berfungsi sebagai media dakwah, memfasilitasi refleksi spiritual dan memberikan penghiburan kepada pendengarnya. The Role of Mosques in Religious Development of the Serawai Tribe in South Bengkulu

This study examines mosques' role in religious development among the Serawai ethnic group in South Bengkulu through a cultural da'wah approach. The scope includes religious activities, integration of Islamic values with local customs, and community responses to culturally accommodating da'wah programs. The method employed is a qualitative ethnographic design involving participatory observation, in-depth interviews with religious and traditional leaders, and document analysis related to mosque activities. Findings reveal that mosques function as centers for religious education as well as agents of socio-cultural transformation, successfully integrating Islamic values with Serawai traditions harmoniously. The cultural da'wah approach uses traditional arts and local language to enhance youth engagement in religious activities. The main conclusion states that successful religious development among the Serawai depends heavily on the mosque's ability to adapt its da'wah methods to local cultural contexts without compromising Islamic principles.

The concept of hijrah (spiritual migration) has evolved into a popular phenomenon within contemporary Muslim society. As a term currently undergoing a contestation of meanings, this study explores how the television program Hijrah on Trans TV constructs the meaning of hijrah. The research focuses on two main questions: (1) How is the meaning of hijrah represented denotatively and connotatively in six selected episodes of the show? (2) How does Trans TV construct and communicate the message of hijrah through this program? Using a qualitative method with an interpretive content analysis approach, this study examines selected episodes, particularly Cerita Berhijrah Oki Setiana Dewi, to observe verbal expressions, actions, and visual symbols. The research employs Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, focusing on the layers of denotation and connotation to unpack the construction of meaning within the show. Findings indicate that the connotative meaning of hijrah portrayed in the program emphasizes personal transformation, not only in behavior but also in outward appearance. Men are shown adopting what is perceived as more Islamic clothing, while women are portrayed as achieving hijrah primarily through wearing the hijab. However, the study reveals a narrowing of meaning: while hijrah in its denotative sense refers to a comprehensive transformation in faith, behavior, and personality, the episodes largely highlight external changes. Aspects of moral and spiritual growth are underrepresented, suggesting a media-driven shift in focus toward visual markers of religiosity rather than holistic Islamic transformation.

This paper explores the everyday practices of informal Islamic communication among Muslim students at Andhra University, a public university in secular India. The study investigates how da'wah is embodied in daily interactions, lifestyle choices, and peer engagement beyond traditional religious settings. Employing a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and participant observation, this research uncovers how Muslim youth navigate their religious identity and communicate Islamic values within a multicultural academic environment. The findings reveal that everyday da'wah takes subtle forms—such as reminding friends to pray, sharing Islamic content on social media, or demonstrating ethical behavior—as a means of religious expression and social connection. This paper contributes to the discourse on Islamic communication by highlighting the significance of non-institutional da'wah in pluralistic and secular spaces like Indian universities.

This paper explores the dynamics of transnational da'wah and community empowerment through the case of Pesantren An-Nahdloh in Malaysia, a pesantren established by Indonesian Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) migrants. The central question concerns how a pesantren initiated and funded by migrant workers can function as a medium of da'wah and social empowerment beyond national borders. Positioned within the discourse of transnational Islamic movements and grassroots religious communication, this study adopts a qualitative-descriptive method using document analysis and contextual observation. The discussion reveals that the pesantren operates not only as an Islamic educational institution but also as a center for da'wah bil hal addressing social, moral, and educational needs of Indonesian migrant communities. This model demonstrates how da'wah institutions initiated by civil society actors can facilitate cultural resilience, religious moderation, and local empowerment in diaspora settings.
