Focus and Scope

The focus of Profetik: Jurnal Komunikasi is to load scientific works  related to communication studies along theoretical, empirical, and methodological dimensions especially Islamic Media Sudies. This fully refereed journal is an important international platform for students and scholars in communication studies to exchange ideas and research results, both with each other and globally.

PJK welcomes scholarly works using social scientific or humanistic approaches on such topics as Islamic media studies, mass communication, prophetic communication, new communication technologies, journalism studies, media literacy, advertising, public relations and political communication.

Peer Review Process

Reviewed manuscripts are original manuscripts that have been selected by editorial board and arranged according to the writing guidelines of  Profetik: Jurnal Komunikasi. For some manuscripts, reviewing process could be conducted by  Reviewers ( the articles will be sent to the peer reviewers to get Single-Blind Peer Review Process). Consideration in determining the reviewers and its number, and the decision whether a manuscript is published or not, is determined by the editorial board based on the assessment and / or input from reviewers. Reviewing process will consider novelty, objectivity, method, scientific impact, conclusion, and references.

Reviewer Eligibility

Term & Condition for Profetik: Jurnal Komunikasi  Reviewer:

  1. Recommended by the editorial board and compliant to be assigned by the Editor in Chief.
  2. Agree and sign the Reviewer Form.
  3. Has the expertise in the field  that related to the focus of publication (Focus and Scope);
  4. Has the track record as writer of journal, book, and/or academic writings in communications.
  5. Agree to comply with the writing and publication requirements of  Profetik: Jurnal Komunikasi
  6. Deliver the clear reviewing result to the editorial board in writing.

Receive compensation from the publisher in accordance to the funding policy of Profetik: Jurnal Komunikasi

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge and allows immediate access to the full text versions of the articles.

 

Archiving

Profetik: Jurnal Komunikasi utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Publication Ethics

Profetik : Jurnal Komunikasi is a peer-reviewed journal, published biannually by Communication Science Department, State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. It is available online s open access sources.

This statement was adapted from the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and covers the code of ethics for chief editor, editorial board members, reviewers and authors.

Duties Of Chief Editor

  • Evaluate manuscripts fairly and solely on their intellectual merit.
  • Ensure confidentiality of manuscripts and not disclose any information regarding manuscripts to anyone other than the people involved in the publishing process.
  • Has the responsibility to decide when and which articles are to be published.
  • Actively seek the views of board members, reviewers and authors on how to improve/ increase the image and visibility of the journal.
  • Give clear instructions to potential contributors on the submission process and what is expected of the authors.
  • Ensure appropriate reviewers are selected/ identified for the reviewing process. 

Duties Of Editorial Board Members

  • Actively contribute to the development and the greater good of the journal.
  • Act as ambassadors for the journal.
  • Continuously support and promote the journal.
  • Review any work assigned to them.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Must disclose any competing interest before agreeing to review a submission.
  • Can refuse to review any submission due to a conflict of interest or inadequate knowledge.
  • Review all submissions objectively, fairly and professionally. 
  • Reveal any ethical misconduct encountered while reviewing to the Chief Editor for further action.
  • Should ensure the originality of a submission and be alert to any plagiarism and redundant publication.
  • Must not discuss the content of the submission without permission.
  • Adhere to the time allocated for the review process. Requests for extension to review the submission is at the discretion of the Chief Editor.

Duties of Authors

  • Have the responsibility of ensuring only new and original work is submitted.
  • Must not reproduce work that has been previously published in other journals.
  • Must not submit any articles that are being reviewed or considered by the journal to other journals simultaneously.
  • Are only allowed to publish their work elsewhere after receiving a formal rejection from the journal or if their request to withdraw their work is officially accepted by the journal.
  • Must inform the Chief Editor or the publisher of any inaccuracy of data in their published work so that correction or retraction of article can be done.
  • Should make significant contributions and be held accountable for any shortcoming in their work. 

Plagiarism 

Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own. Submitted manuscripts should be the original works of the author(s). To Check the possibility of plagiarism manuscript is submitted using the aplication Plagiarism Software.

Duplicate (Redundant) Publication 

Duplicate publication is publications of papers that overlaps substantially with one already published, without clear, visible references to the previous publication. Manuscript submission will be considered for publication only if they are submitted solely for this journal and do not overlap substantially with a published article. Any manuscript that has (near) similar hypothesis, sample characteristics, methodology, results, and conclusions to a published article is duplicate article and is prohibited, even if it is published in different languages. The slicing of data from a "single research" to make some individuals manuscript without substantial differences should be avoided. 

Fabrication of Data 

Fabrication, manipulation or falsification of data is an ethical violation and is prohibited. 

Citations Manipulation 

The only relevant citations are used in the manuscripts. Irrelevant (self) citation to increase author(s)'s citation (h-index) or unnecessary citation to improve the references are not allowed. 

Intellectual Property Rights 

Author(s) must obedient the law and/or ethics in treating the object of research and pay attention to the legality of material sources and intellectual property rights. Journal policy about intelectual property or copyright is declared here: Declaration of the publication ethics and the submission of manuscript copyright

Conflict of Interest and Source of Funding 

Author(s) requires to acknowledge all sources of institutional, private and corporate financial support for the research within the manuscript, and note any potential conflicts of interest.

Authorship and Collaboration

Name of authors listed in a paper should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the report. Only those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the work must be acknowledged or listed as contributors. It is the duty of the corresponding author to ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper.  All co-authors must approve the final version of the paper and agree to the version of the paper before submission.

 

Publication Frequency

Profetik : Jurnal Komunikasi is published twice a year in April and October.

If this paper is accepted, you will be asked to pay the proofreading about IDR 1,200,000 (USD 85)

The author will get the full PDF for articles that are published successfully.

Screening For Plagiarism

The submitted article has never existed in any media and/or is not being or will be submitted in any medias. The author is responsible for the authenticity of the submitted manuscript. All incoming articles will be checked for authenticity to prevent plagiarism by using Turnitin anti-plagiarism software. Any forms of high-level plagiarism will be banned (temporary up to permanent banned).
