Traditionalist Islam, also known as Islam Nusantara, is a Sufi-inspired orientation and is often generalized in NU discourse as Indonesian Islam, thereby ignoring the differences between the two. It is a hybrid form of Islam developed mainly in Java since the 16th century, which gradually blended with Javanese adat (customary law), Hinduism, Buddhism, and mystical practices. Through this argument, the phenomenon of hijrah, especially in Indonesia, has become the author's concern, one of which is the latest, namely the inclusion of Ustad Hannan Attaki in the largest organization in Indonesia, even the world, namely Nahdlatul Ulama. This study aims to describe aspects of Nahdlatul Ulama-style Islam Nusantara that can influence Ustad Hannan Attaki's views. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research with various literature reviews. The results of this article show that the authority of Kiai as the main component of Nusantara Islam has influenced Ustad Hanan Attaki's thinking paradigm, especially through the figure of KH. Marzuki Mustamar. For Ustaz Hanan Attaki, KH. Marzuki is not only a representation of scientific sanad, but also a role model. He realizes that adhering to Ahlusunnah wal Jamaah is not enough without NU attachment, so allegiance to Nahdlatul Ulama is a form of commitment to peaceful da'wah.
Ahmad Hasan Copyright (c) 2025 Ahmad Hasan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://ejournal.uin-suka.ac.id/pusat/panangkaran/article/view/3330 Mon, 15 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Islam Kebangsaan Inklusif Formulasi Gagasan Islam Rahmat Lil 'Alamin dan Bhinneka Tunggal Ika https://ejournal.uin-suka.ac.id/pusat/panangkaran/article/view/4256
The era of globalisation has changed the way Indonesian society perceives the relationship between Islam and nationality. The flow of global information has expanded intercultural interactions but has also given rise to political polarisation, digital tribalism, and a crisis of social tolerance. This study, through a descriptive-reflective approach, seeks to reformulate the relevance of integrating the Islamic value of Raḥmatan li al-‘Ālamīn and the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika as an ethical paradigm in responding to the challenges of contemporary plurality. The results of the study gave birth to the concept of Inclusive National Islam, a religious paradigm that places compassion, justice, and universal humanity at the core of national morality. In socio-political practice, this idea is realised through a movement of religious moderation and the development of an ecosystem of moderation that fosters dialogue, critical reflection, and national solidarity. Thus, Inclusive National Islam is not only a conceptual offering but also a practical model that strengthens social cohesion and reinforces Indonesian civilisation rooted in Islamic spirituality and the spirit of diversity.
M. For some people, tahlilan is not only a religious activity, but also reflects the social dynamics of community interaction. In addition to its religious value, tahlilan tradition can also bring socio-economic impacts, especially for families who have financial limitations. The literature review research method was chosen in this study with the aim of analyzing the tahlilan tradition as an Islamic socio-cultural phenomenon that affects the lives of Indonesian people in religious, social and economic essence. By utilizing literature review, this research is able to explore the meaning of tahlilan in the religious traditions that develop in Indonesian society and examine the transformation of socio-economic pressures that affect tahlilan events. The results show that tahlilan can reflect the social dynamics of Indonesian society, but the socio-economic pressures that arise in holding tahlilan traditions often make sincerity in worship a little marginalized by a sense of obligation that is more cultural. However, with the advancement of economic lifestyles, in big cities tahlilan events have diminished. Although for some people, tahlilan has become an economic pressure due to the expense, it does not prevent them from carrying out this tradition.
Amidst the dynamics of social change and modernization, the continuity of the Nyadran tradition has become an interesting phenomenon to study, especially in relation to how people interpret and practice it in contemporary socio-religious life. This study aims to analyze the meaning and role of the Nyadran tradition in the socio-religious life of the Javanese community in Sidoarjo Regency. This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection was carried out through participant observation, in-depth interviews with community leaders, religious leaders, and residents directly involved in the implementation of Nyadran, as well as documentation studies. Data analysis uses Max Weber's social action theory to understand the motives and subjective meanings of people's actions in following the Nyadran tradition, as well as Clifford Geertz's symbolic theory to interpret Nyadran as a symbolic system that represents and shapes the Javanese people's worldview. The results of the study show that the Nyadran tradition has multidimensional meanings. Spiritually, Nyadran is understood as a form of respect and prayer to ancestors as well as a means of self-reflection in preparing to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. Socially, this tradition functions as a mechanism for strengthening solidarity, mutual cooperation, and social equality through collective practices such as cleaning graves, praying together, and holding feasts. Culturally, Nyadran plays an important role in preserving local values and maintaining Javanese cultural identity amid the tide of modernization. Thus, Nyadran not only survives as a cultural heritage, but also as a dynamic and relevant socio-religious practice in the lives of modern Javanese society.
Alivia Anjelita Syafa Rizqi, Agus Machfud Fauzi Copyright (c) 2025 Alivia Anjelita Syafa Rizqi, Agus Machfud Fauzi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://ejournal.uin-suka.ac.id/pusat/panangkaran/article/view/3893 Thu, 25 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Tradisi Ondangan di Cigugur: Analisis Nilai Moderasi Beragama Berdasarkan Teori Empat Pilar Moderasi Beragama https://ejournal.uin-suka.ac.id/pusat/panangkaran/article/view/4053
This study delves into the Ondangan tradition of Cigugur, a cultural practice rich in communal and spiritual significance, through the lens of the Four Pillars of Religious Moderation. The Ondangan tradition, deeply rooted in the social fabric of Cigugur offers a unique window into how religious moderation can be practiced and upheld in a diverse society. By employing a descriptive-qualitative approach, this research uncovers how the four pillars—national commitment, tolerance, non-violence, and cultural accommodation—are intricately woven into this tradition. The findings reveal that Ondangan not only nurtures social cohesion and mutual respect among diverse religious groups but also embodies a living example of how local traditions can harmonize with broader religious values. This study highlights the Ondangan tradition as a powerful model for fostering inclusivity, promoting peace, and preserving cultural identity in a pluralistic world.
Abdul Mun'em Choiri, Fikrul Maarif Saleh , Ida Farida , Irfandi Andika Putra , Irma Riyani , Salma Fauziah Copyright (c) 2025 Abdul Mun'em Choiri, Fikrul Maarif Saleh , Ida Farida , Irfandi Andika Putra , Irma Riyani , Salma Fauziah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://ejournal.uin-suka.ac.id/pusat/panangkaran/article/view/4053 Thu, 25 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Integrasi Kosmologi Jawa dan Ekoteologi Islam dalam Pemikiran Seyyed Hossein Nasr https://ejournal.uin-suka.ac.id/pusat/panangkaran/article/view/4660

This study examines the integration between the Javanese cosmology Hamemayu Hayuning Bawono and Islamic ecotheology in the thought of Seyyed Hossein Nasr. The synthesis of these two perspectives forms a comprehensive and contextual framework of Islamic eco-spirituality in the Indonesian context, which can be applied in daily life. Both Javanese philosophy and Nasr’s thought regard nature as a sacred creation of God, implying that humans bear a moral and spiritual responsibility to preserve it. The principle of Hamemayu Hayuning Bawono, which emphasizes the harmony and beauty of the world, aligns with Nasr’s cosmological concept of tawhid, which highlights the unity of God, humanity, and nature. Both perspectives stem from the awareness that today’s environmental crisis is essentially a spiritual crisis caused by the loss of the sacred perception of nature. This integration not only provides a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic ecological discourse but also offers practical implications through the strengthening of environmental ethics in education, public policy, and religious social movements such as EcoMasjid and Green Pesantren. Eco-spiritual awareness rooted in spiritual values and local wisdom can reinforce an Indonesian ecological ethic grounded in Islamic teachings. However, since this study is literature-based, further interdisciplinary research involving theology, ecology, and anthropology is needed to deepen and evaluate the implementation of Islamic eco-spirituality concepts within society.
Della Rahmayani, Ismi Nur Hidayah, Isnaini A sifa Rohmah , Syahru Fajar Ibrahim, Rohim Habibi Copyright (c) 2025 Della Rahmayani, Ismi Nur Hidayah, Isnaini A sifa Rohmah , Syahru Fajar Ibrahim, Rohim Habibi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://ejournal.uin-suka.ac.id/pusat/panangkaran/article/view/4660 Thu, 25 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700
