Focus and Scope

With the consideration of integrated and interconnected Law studies, Al-Mazaahib (Jurnal Perbandingan Hukum) is created as an open access peer-reviewed journal which aims to offer a national academic platform for Islamic Law thought: islamic law (fikih), Philosophy of Islamic Law, customary law and Positive Law. It includes research articles, both normative-doctrinal and empirical/field.

The discipline of Islamic law includes: Islamic Jurisprudence (Fikih); Islamic Legal Theory (Usul al-Fikih); History of Islamic Law (codification/legislation/compilation); Islamic Law in Muslim Modern World; Comparative Law, Law & Religion, Law & Society.

The discipline of Philosophy of Islamic includes the study of Maqasid Asy-Syari'ah.

The discipline of Customary law that discussed from the perspective of Islamic law.

The discipline of Positive Law includes Penal Code, Civil/Private Law which are discussed from an Islamic perspective and/or the Philosophy of Islamic Law.

Al-Mazaahib (Jurnal Perbandingan Hukum) was established in 2012 and is affiliated to the Departement of Comparative of Islamic Law, Sharia and Law Faculty, UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Academic quality and the national character of the journal are guaranteed by the editorial board, which consists of national experts in all specializations of Islamic law, Philosophy of Islamic Law and/or Positive Law studies.
