Agama dan Spiritualisme:Prospek dan Tantangannya

Abstract
Bergesernya pemahaman keagamaan ketika menghadapi persoalan yang dimunculkan oleh kemajuan iptek, melahirkan interpretasi yang bermacam-macam tentang agama. Munculnya gejala spiritualisme merupakan indikasi ke arah itu. Artikel ini mencoba mencari akar-akar yang memunculkan interpretasi tersebut, dengan segala konsekuensinya. Agama dalam arti formal (organized religion) ditafsirkan kembali dari perspektif spiritualitasnya. Di sisi lain, ketika orang memandang agama secara pesimis dalam menjawab tantangan zaman, muncul kehidupan spiritual yang terlepas dari agama. Dari sinilah persoalan agama dan spiritualitas menjadi dua kubu yang "dipertentangkan". Penulis secara analitis melihat perkembangan ke depan kedua fenomena di atas.
