HARMONY OF HUSBAND-WIFE RELATIONS IN SURAH AL-BAQARAH VERSE 223: AN INTEGRATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE THEORY OF MUBADALAH AND ATTACHMENT

Abstract
This study aims to analyze in depth the harmony in husband and wife relations as implied in Surah al-Baqarah verse 223. This study integrates two relevant theoretical frameworks, namely the Mubadalah theory and Attachment theory. Mubadalah theory, with its focus on reciprocal and mutual relations, is used to examine the implications of the verse on the dynamics of equal and mutually beneficial interactions in marriage. Meanwhile, Attachment theory, which emphasizes emotional bonds and the need for security in relationships, is applied to understand how the verse contributes to the formation and maintenance of intimacy and emotional support between husband and wife. This study uses a qualitative approach that is library research. In interpreting the verse, this study uses the tahlili method. The primary data sources in this study are several classical and contemporary tafsir books, the book on mubadalah theory by Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir and the psychology book on attachment theory by John Bowlby. The secondary data in this study include articles, journals, dissertations, books on family relations, and scientific papers that are relevant to the discussion of this study. The results of the study indicate that the integrative analysis of mubadalah theory on QS. Surah al-Baqarah verse 223 states that wives have equal rights in the household, including intimate relationships, love, rights and obligations, and decision-making. An integrative analysis of the Attachment theory with Surah al-Baqarah verse 223 implicitly indicates that a husband is the caregiver for his wife, and a wife is the caregiver for her husband. The sacred covenant of marriage requires that both partners, both husband and wife, be present not only physically but also emotionally, so that both can share a sense of security within the household.
