Author Guidelines
The Adabiyyāt: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra receives manuscripts under the following conditions:
- The manuscript has never been published nor is it before another journal for consideration. A plagiarism statement must be attached to the submission. The plagiarism statement can be downloaded HERE.
- Similarity index is maximum 20% prooved by Turnitin similarity detection, which excludes quotes and bibliography, and 3% similarity.
- Any rearrangement, deletion, or addition of author names in the authorship list should be made only prior to the manuscript has been submitted.
- Adabiyyāt: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra only addresses issues relevant to Arabic, English, or Bahasa Indonesia (non-local languages) and literary studies with linguistic, philological, literary (historical, critical, theoretical), or translational domains. Education is not our field.
- Manuscripts are sent as soft files in Microsoft Word (doc. format) via the Online Submission page Online Submission.
- Manuscripts are written in Indonesian, English, or Arabic according to academic writing standards. The manuscript is written in Times New Roman, font size 11, and exactly 15 space on B5 sized paper, between 4,500 dd. 7,000 words. These sizes include footnotes, bibliography, images, figures, and tables. See Manuscript Template Adabiyyat.
- The Arabic-Latin transliteration, which is used in the Adabiyyāt: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra, is guided by the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religion and the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 158/1987 and 0543b/U/1987. Transliteration is only used for writing terms, names, titles, and bibliography.
- Direct quotes in Arabic using Traditional Arabic fonts (size 14) and with harakat. Quotes in Indonesian or English use Times New Roman (font size 9). Quotes in Arabic or English must be accompanied by translations.
- The curriculum vitae of the author is attached at the end of the text.
- Writing Format:
a. Title (7 to 12 words),
b. Author's name (without the academic degree) with affiliation and email address,
c. Abstract (150 to 200 words) which includes the formulation of the problem, method, importance of research, and results,
d. Keywords (3 to 5 words/phrases),
e. Writing system:
9. Referenced cited authors uses the body note system of the Chicago Manual of Style (author-date) with the order: Author's Last Name, Author's First Name, Publish Year, and Page, for example: (Lyons 2000, 124).
10. It is recommended to use the Zotero reference management tool.
NOTE:
For transliterations from Arabic script, this journal uses guidance from the Ministry of Religion of Indonesia in 2012. The PDF version of the Arabic transliteration guideline is available for download here.
Online Submitting Manuscript Guidelines:
The manuscript text must be submitted by one of two systems (second procedure will be preferred):
- Submitting document should be done by Online Submission System in the Adabiyyat E-journal portal HERE.
- First, the author should register as an author (checking role as author) in the “Register” or HERE.
- After registration completed, log in as an author, click on “New Submission”. The article submits stage consist of five stages, such as: (1). Start, (2). Upload Submission, (3). Enter Metadata, (4). Upload Supplementary Files, (5). Confirmation.
- In the “Start” column, chose the Journal Section (Full Article), check all the checklists.
- In the “Upload Submission” Columns, upload the manuscript files at MSWord format in this column.
- In the “Enter Metadata” columns, fill out all the author data and affiliation. Following the Journal Title, Abstract and Indexing Keywords.
- In the “Upload Supplementary Files” columns, allowed to upload supplementary data file or the statement letter or other else.
- In the “Confirmation” columns, if all the data that you enter were right, then click “Finish Submission”.
- If the author has difficulties in the submitting process via the online system, please contact Adabiyyāt Editorial team at adabiyyat@uin-suka.ac.id.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text uses a Times New Roman 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
Copyright Notice
- Adabiyyāt: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra publishes all articles entirely in full text.
- It is permissible for readers to download and to use it for scientific purposes and scientific dissemination.
- The author can re-publish the article that has been published by the Adabiyyāt: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra after obtaining written permission from the editor. This letter can be obtained by submitting a request letter for permission to republish the article to Adabiyyāt: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra via email adabiyyat@uin-suka.ac.id. In the second publication, the author is required to include information that the article was firstly published by the Adabiyyāt: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra.
Privacy Statement
The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party. The names of the authors must not be more than three names.
