The objective of this research is to analyze the empowerment conducted by NGO Provisi Yogyakarta by using the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) empowerment method and the strategy undertaken by the NGO to empower remote village communities. This research uses the qualitative descriptive method based on what happened in the field, data collection is done through an interview, direct observation, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and documentation. Selection of informants is done by purposive sampling that is Project Manager LSM Provisi, Team Leader, and field staff of NGO Provisi, and empowered a community. Research location in LubukBintialo, MusiBanyuasin Regency, Palembang, South Sumatra. Empowerment of underdeveloped villages is analyzed through an approach using Participatory Learning and Action (PLA). This participation-based approach is one of the empowerment methods that prioritize community participation in the process of empowerment. The results of this study based on findings in the field are, this empowerment method is done by direct way, that is giving direction but also practice. There are two focuses of empowerment conducted to LubukBintialo community, namely empowerment based on fisheries and agriculture.
Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menganalisis pemberdayaan yang dilakukan oleh LSM Provisi Yogyakarta dengan menggunakan metode pemberdayaan Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) dan strategi yang dilakukan oleh LSM tersebut untuk memberdayakan masyarakat desa terpencil. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif berdasarkan apa yang terjadi di lapangan, pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, pengamatan langsung, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) dan dokumentasi. Pemilihan informan dilakukan secara purposive sampling yaitu Manager Project LSM Provisi, Team Leader, dan staff lapangan LSM Provisi, dan masyarakat yang diberdayakan. Lokasi penelitian di Lubuk Bintialo, Kabupaten Musi Banyuasin, Palembang, Sumatra Selatan. Pemberdayaan desa tertinggal ini dianalisis melalui pendekatan dengan menggunakan Participatory Learning and Action (PLA). Pendekatan berbasis partisipasi ini merupakan salah satu metode pemberdayaan yang mengedepankan partisipasi masyarakat dalam suatu proses pemberdayaan. Hasil penelitian ini berdasarkan temuan di lapangan ialah, metode pemberdayaan ini dilakukan dengan cara langsung, yaitu memberikan pengarahan tetapi sekaligus praktik. Ada dua fokus pemberdayaan yang dilakukan kepada masyarakat Lubuk Bintialo, yaitu pemberdayaan berbasis perikanan dan pertanian.
