This community service program aims to identify the factors contributing to recidivism while implementing a psychosocial and spiritual-based intervention for inmates at the Class IIA Yogyakarta Detention Center. The persistence of recidivism indicates that existing rehabilitation efforts have not been fully effective in preventing reoffending. The methods employed include observation, in-depth interviews, and the implementation of a participatory mentoring program using counseling and spiritual strengthening approaches. The participants were selected purposively among inmates. The results indicate that the main contributing factors to recidivism include family- related issues (such as broken homes and lack of support), economic pressures, unfavorable social environments, and low levels of legal awareness and religiosity. The intervention program, which consisted of reflective mentoring, self-awareness enhancement, and spiritual activities such as dhikr, self-reflection (muhasabah), and group discussions, demonstrated positive outcomes. These include increased self- awareness, stronger motivation for personal change, and a better understanding of the consequences of criminal behavior. This program contributes to the development of a more comprehensive and integrative rehabilitation model by emphasizing psychological and spiritual dimensions. It is expected to serve as an alternative strategy to reduce recidivism through a more humanistic, participatory, and sustainable approach.
