This community service activity aimed to describe the implementation and outcomes of a parenting socialization program based on Islamic Guidance and Counseling for parents in Sindumartani Village, Ngemplak District, Sleman Regency. The program employed a community education approach with a descriptive qualitative design. The activities consisted of parenting education sessions, interactive discussions, individual counseling, and participant observation as the primary data collection technique. The participants consisted of 25 parents with school-aged children. Data were obtained through the direct involvement of the facilitators throughout the activity and systematic observation during the implementation process. The results of the participant observation indicated a shift in participants’ perspectives on parenting, particularly regarding the importance of parental emotion regulation, empathic communication, and balancing discipline with compassion within the family. Although the findings are qualitative and contextual in nature, this community service activity suggests that parenting education grounded in Islamic values has the potential to serve as a strategy for family empowerment through community education, especially in strengthening parents’ roles in child-rearing practices.
