Journal of Accounting Inquiry is open access and peer-reviewed journal published by the Department of Islamic Accounting, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga in collaboration with Asosiasi Program Studi Akuntansi Syariah (APSAS). Journal of Accounting Inquiry invites researchers, academics, and practitioners to publish their original, conceptual, theoretical, and empirical research regarding the ideas, issues, and challenges of economics and business.

The focus and scope of the Journal of Accounting Inquiry will include but are not limited to:

Accounting: Islamic Accounting; Managerial Accounting; Accounting Information System; Taxation and Public Sector Accounting; Auditing; Financial Accounting; Behavioral accounting; etc.

The journal published its inaugural issue on July 21, 2022, and continues to release two journal editions annually. Since April, 2026, starting from Vol. 5 No. 1 (2026), the JAI journal has been accredited with "SINTA 4" (4th rank) by the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, in recognition of its excellence in peer review, journal management, and publication quality. The SINTA 4 accreditation is valid from Vol. 2 No. 1 (2023) until Vol. 6 No. 2 (2027), as stated in Ministerial Decree No. 156/C/C3/KPT/2026.
