Adversity Quotient pada Siswa Tunanetra dalam Meningkatkan Literasi

Obstacles in visionary function in blind student impacts on limited
learning process, mainly in literacy activities such as reading, writing, and
counting. In preventing such obstacles, they need adversity quotient for
enhancing literacy skill at school. Adversity quotient is very important so
that they could get through the difficulties in the process, not depend on
their parent and teacher to counter society’s stigma on the issues, likes
normal student. The objective of research is to explore the meaning of
adversity quotient on blind student in improving their literacy.This study
used a qualitative method with phenomenological approach. Four blind
students who study in Special Needs School of Prof. Sri Soedewi Jambi
became the subject of this study. Data collecting was carried out through
in-depth semi-structured interviews. An interpretative phenomenological
analysis was used as the data analysis technique. Study results indicate that
the adversity quotients of blind students in improving literacy skills
encompass origin and ownership, motivation, perseverance, independence,
and control. Factors affecting adversity quotients include parental
encouragement, social support, facilities, and future orientation.
Abstrak. Hambatan fungsi penglihatan pada siswa tunanetra berdampak
pada keterbatasan dalam proses pembelajaran, terutama pada aktivitas
literasi seperti membaca, menulis, dan berhitung. Dalam mengatasi
hambatan tersebut mereka membutuhkan kecerdasan daya juang (adversity
quotinet) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi di sekolah. Daya juang
sangat penting agar mereka mampu mengatasi berbagai kesulitan dalam
membaca, tidak bergantung pada orang tua dan guru, serta mengubah
stigma masyarakat bahwa mereka tidak mampu belajar di sekolah seperti
siswa normal. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menggali makna adversity
quotient pada siswa tunantera dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan
fenomenologi, subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa tunanetra yang menuntut
ilmu di Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) Prof. Sri Soedewi Jambi sebanyak
empat orang, pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara semistruktur
secara mendalam. Teknik analisis data menggunakan interpretative
phenomenological analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adversity
quotient siswa tunanetra dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi berupa
mengatasi kesulitan, motivasi, ketekunan, kemandirian, dan kontrol.
Adapun faktor yang memengaruhi adversity quetiont yaitu dorongan orang
tua, dukungan sosial, fasilitas, dan orientasi masa depan.
