Abstract

The phenomenon of relapse is still widespread. It is show that the recovery of drug patients has less effective effect without the support of motivation to change from that individual. In psychology, the motivation of drug patients to change is generally associated with the term self-determination. This correlational-quantitative study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self-determination and abstinence self-efficacy on drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation. Respondents in this study are 200 drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The measurement instrument used Self-Determination Scale ( = 0,859) and Abstinence Self-Efficacy Scale ( = 0,930). According to the correlation study results, self-determination and abstinence self-efficacy had a significant value of 0,000 (p<0,05) with r = 0,373. It can be concluded that there is a significant positive relationship between the two variables. The individual that had motivation to change (self-determination) will help them to increase their confidence to recover from drug use.
