Eksplorasi Gambaran Flow Experience Pada Pemain Game Online

This research examines description of Flow Experience on online gaming experiences. The study aims to explore the depiction of experiences based on the 9 dimensions of Flow Experience for individuals who play online games. The topic of this research is important because the large number of people playing online games in today's digital age can trigger deep experiences related to engagement or full focus while playing, which can impact their experiences, behavior, and daily lives, either positively or negatively. Internet usage in Indonesia has grown rapidly, with most people using it to play online games as a means of communication, self-expression, and entertainment. This study uses a qualitative method in its research. Data collection was conducted on 10 participants selected through purposive sampling techniques. The results of this study indicate the influence of flow experience on online gaming, leading to full engagement, high concentration, and a loss of time perception among players.
Practical implications that can be undertaken include the need for education on digital literacy, time management, and strengthening positive social interactions in games to ensure that the gaming experience remains adaptive and supports psychological well-being.
Penelitian ini mengkaji gambaran Flow Experience terhadap pengalaman bermain game online. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi gambaran pengalaman berlandaskan dari 9 dimensi Flow Experience terhadap individu yang bermain game online. Topik penelitian ini penting karena banyaknya orang yang bermain game online di masa digitalisasi sekarang dapat memicu terjadinya pengalaman mendalam terkait keterlibatan atau fokus secara penuh saat melakukan permainan sehingga dapat berdampak terhadap pengalaman, perilaku, dan keseharian baik secara positif atau negatif. Penggunaan internet di Indonesia telah berkembang pesat, dengan sebagian besar masyarakat memanfaatkannya untuk bermain game online sebagai sarana komunikasi, ekspresi diri, dan hiburan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam penelitiannya. Penggalian data dilakukan kepada 10 partisipan yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya peran flow experience terhadap pengalaman bermain game online yang menyebabkan munculnya keterlibatan penuh, konsentrasi tinggi, dan hilangnya persepsi waktu pada pemain.
Implikasi praktis yang dapat dilakukan adalah perlunya edukasi tentang literasi digital, manajemen waktu, dan penguatan interaksi sosial positif dalam game untuk memastikan pengalaman bermain tetap adaptif dan mendukung kesejahteraan psikologis maupun sosial pemain.
