Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

General Instructions

KAUNIA publishes manuscripts written in the English language. Manuscripts submitted to the journal for publication should be original contributions and must not have been previously published or is under consideration simultaneously by any other publication and not be submitted for publication elsewhere until the Editorial Board has decide whether to publish the paper. Manuscrip that have been published in a forum (eg seminars) should be mentioned.

For submission by post, a copy of the manuscript and a disk version (zip disk or CD) of the manuscript. Postal submission should be sent to Editorial Board of Journal Kaunia, Faculty of Science and Technology, State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Jl. Marsda Adicucipto Yogyakarta 55281, Indonesia.

Preparation of Manuscript

Manuscripts should be single-spaced throughout on one side of the paper only. Manuscripts written clearly with the word-processing (we encourages using MS Word and saved in .docx format file).

Pages should be numbered and manuscripts should be arranged in the following order: Title, Author’s Name, Institution/ Affiliation (include telephone number and email addresses), Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, and References. The lines should be numbered down the right-hand edge of each page. All abbreviations should be defined when first mentioned.

Please be sure to check for spelling and grammar before submitting the manuscripts.

Format and Style

Title, Abstract, Keywords and Introduction: A short title of not more than 15 words should be provided.  Name of Authors and Affiliation written clearly. The person to whom correspondence and request for prints are to be addressed should be indicated (include telephone and fax numbers and email addresses). The abstract, of not more than 200 words, should be summarize results and conclusions. Abrevations and references should be avoided. Keywords, of not more than 7 keywords.

The introduction should set the study in context and this should be followed by a concice statement of the objectives of the study.

Tables: Should be concise and informative. The title should be single sentence at the head of the tables. Tables should be numbered followed by the name of tables.

Figures: Should be concise and informative. The title should be single sentence at the lower part of the figures. Figures should be numbered followed by the name of figures. If supplying electronics files of colour figures please supply as CMYK EPS files not RGB.

References: All references should be to the most pertinent and up-to-date sources. References are written in Vancouver style. Each citation should be written in the order of appearance in the text. Please use a consistent format for references – see examples below:

If your references are from journal artilces:

Author1 A, Author2 B. Title of Manuscript. Name of Journal or its Abbreviation. Year; Vol. (Issue): pages.

If your references are from proceeding artilces:

If the proceedings consists of several volumes:

Author1 A, Author2 B. Title of Manuscript. Name of Conference of Seminar. City. Year; volume: pages.

If the proceedings in single volume:

If your references are from Texbooks:

If the references are refer to specific page range in a book:

If the references are refer to some separate pages in a book:

Edited book:

If your references are from Thesis/Disertation:

If your references are from Paten:

Author1 A, Author2 B.. Title (this should be in italics). Patent number (Patent). Year of publication.

If your references are from Standards:

Name of Standard Body/Institution. Standard number. Title (this should be in italics). Place of publication. Publisher. Year of publication.

If your references are from Reports:

Author/Editor (if it is an editor/editors always put (ed./eds.) after the name). Title (this should be in italics). Organisation. Report number: (this should be followed by the actual number in figures). Year of publication.
