Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of Halal Identity, Halal Material, and Halal Storage and Logistics on Halal Product Performance among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), while assessing the moderating role of Maqashid Shariah Knowledge and the mediating role of Human Resources Halal Quality. The urgency of this research is driven by the growing global demand for halal products and the need to ensure comprehensive halal integrity throughout the supply chain. A quantitative approach was employed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), involving 100 MSME respondents from West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire covering demographic characteristics, halal certification status, and indicators of the research constructs. The findings reveal that Halal Identity, Halal Material, and Halal Storage and Logistics have a positive and significant impact on Halal Product Performance. Maqashid Shariah Knowledge significantly moderates the relationship between Halal Identity and Halal Product Performance but does not moderate the relationships between Halal Material or Halal Storage and Logistics and product performance. Furthermore, Human Resources Halal Quality does not function as a significant mediator in linking Maqashid Shariah Knowledge to halal product performance. These results indicate that maqashid-based understanding primarily influences value-oriented and perceptual dimensions, whereas the technical aspects of the halal supply chain are more strongly shaped by operational compliance. This study highlights the importance of integrating Shariah-based values with technical reinforcement through robust Halal Assurance Systems, continuous human resource development, and institutional collaboration to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the halal MSME sector.
