Focus And Scope

Jurnal Moderasi: The Journal of Ushuluddin, Islamic Thought, and Muslim Society is a peer-reviewed academic journal that focuses on Living Islam, the dynamic, contextual, and lived expressions of Islamic beliefs, practices, and thought as they interact with various social, cultural, and intellectual realities. The journal provides a scholarly platform for interdisciplinary research that explores how Islam is understood, interpreted, and practiced in the modern world, bridging the gap between classical Islamic scholarship and contemporary social experience.

The journal welcomes original and high-quality scholarly works related to Living Islam, particularly within, but not limited to, the following thematic areas:

  1. Islamic Theology and Philosophical Inquiry: engaging with classical and contemporary discourses in kalām, metaphysics, ethics, and the intellectual heritage of Islamic thought.
  2. Qur’anic Studies and Interpretive Traditions: addressing linguistic, thematic, and contextual approaches to the Qur’an, as well as its evolving hermeneutical frameworks.
  3. Hadith and Prophetic Traditions: exploring the transmission, interpretation, authority, and lived significance of hadith within Muslim societies.
  4. Sociology of Islam and Religious Transformation: examining the social structures, institutions, and changing dynamics of Muslim religious life in diverse contexts.
  5. Anthropology of Islamic Practices and Everyday Life: investigating rituals, symbols, and cultural expressions that shape the lived experiences of Muslim communities.
