Author Guidelines

Articles sent to the editor of Jurnal Moderasi: The Journal of Ushuluddin, Islamic Thought, and Muslim Societies must follow the technical provisions as:

  1. Articles are written in Indonesian, English, or Arabic standards which are the result of research or conceptual writing in various scopes of Islamic Philosophy, Qur'anic Studies, Hadith Studies, Sociology of Religion, Anthropology of Religion, Comparative Religion, and contemporary issues related to Islam and society.
  2. The article is the work authentic and has not been published in any other journal.
  3. Include abstracts in English (mandatory) and Indonesian (or) Arab with a total of 150-250 words; in each abstract comes with keywords no more than 5 words.
  4. The name of the authors of the article does not need to include an academic degree, position, or rank and is accompanied by a correspondence address and email address.
  5. Using the IJMES transliteration guidelines, the guidelines can be accessed through this link.
  6. References in the article must follow the Chicago Manual of Style (Notes and Bibliography system).
  7. References are managed using reference management tools such as Mendeley or Zotero to ensure accuracy and consistency in citation and bibliography formatting.
  8. Download and follow the instruction in the journal template.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The authors are willing to read, follow, and complete all notes and remarks given in the process of review.
  • The article must be original and not published or concurrently submitted for publication elsewhere.
  • Papers submitted for publication must conform to the Journal Template and Author Guidelines.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • All references containing URLs must be provided.
  • The authors will upload the revised version of the manuscript on-time.
  • Each author’s identity must state the full name, institution, email, and ORCID iD.
  • Upload your manuscript and assert related items, materials, or letters of statement.

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgment of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  2. Authors may enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.
