Journal History

EkBis: Jurnal Ekonomi dan Bisnis was first published in 2017, featuring two issues per year in June and December, with six articles included in each issue. Initially, all articles were published in Bahasa Indonesia. However, starting in 2019, the editorial board decided to publish all articles in English to increase the journal's global reach and impact. In 2022, the editorial board revamped the journal's layout and cover design to modernize its typography and establish a consistent look and feel across publications. This initiative reflected the journal's commitment to staying relevant and visually appealing in the evolving academic landscape.

On January 27, 2022, EkBis received a notification letter from the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia regarding its accreditation status. The journal was officially accredited with SINTA 4, retroactive from the 2019 to 2024 edition, as outlined in SK No: 164/E/KPT/2021. This recognition underscored the journal's quality and standards, bolstered further by its acknowledgment from more than 18 indexing providers worldwide.

In July 2022, EkBis upgraded its online journal system from OJS 2 to OJS 3. This migration brought significant improvements, including a modernized website design, an enhanced user interface, and a more efficient dashboard system to support authors, reviewers, and editors. As part of its continuous improvement and commitment to academic excellence, in 2025, EkBis renewed its accreditation and undertook a significant refocusing of its Aim and Scope, specializing exclusively in topics related to the Digital Economy and Business. This strategic shift reflects the journal's aspiration to contribute meaningfully to the rapidly growing field of digitalization, particularly in the context of emerging market economies.
