Journal Overview

Journal of Integrative Islamic Medicine (JIIM) is a scholarly journal associated with the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It provides an academic forum for rigorous, ethically responsible research at the intersection of medicine, health sciences, and Islamic perspectives.

The journal supports scholarly exchange across biomedical and clinical sciences, public health, medical and health professions education, Islamic bioethics, spiritual care, and evidence-based approaches to integrative medicine. It welcomes research that contributes to healthcare practice, education, health policy, and community well-being.

Publication Frequency

The journal is published twice a year, in July and December.

Focus and Scholarly Approach

JIIM welcomes quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, and appropriately designed review studies. Research addressing Islamic teachings or traditional healthcare practices is expected to distinguish theological or normative perspectives from empirical scientific evidence. Claims regarding clinical safety, effectiveness, diagnosis, prognosis, or causality must be supported by suitable research designs and data.

Editorial and Peer Review

Submissions undergo initial editorial screening for scope, scientific quality, completeness, and research and publication ethics. Manuscripts selected for external review normally undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent reviewers. Final publication decisions rest with the authorized editorial team.

Publication Ethics and Open Access

JIIM emphasizes research integrity, responsible authorship, confidentiality, conflict-of-interest disclosure, and protection of research participants. In accordance with the supplied editorial policy draft, the journal does not charge submission, peer-review, or article processing fees, and accepted articles are made available through open access.
