Journal History
Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif (JSR) was published in 2006 (Vol. 1 No.1, October). The purpose of the first publication of JSR was to provide a journal for lecturers at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, particularly in the Sociology Study Program, and record traces of the development of sociological theories that were very dynamic. In 2013, JSR started publishing one (1) up to two (2) articles in English, furthermore in 2017 JSR has been indexed by DOAJ and has started to recruit more reviewers and editors from other countries.
In 2024, Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif (JSR) rolled out several key updates, including an expansion of its aims and scope to include book reviews. The templates for articles and book reviews were redesigned to be more informative, along with revisions to various aspects of the author guidelines.
A significant development in 2024 was the change in JSR’s leadership. In December, Dr. Astri Hanjarwati, M.A., was appointed Editor-in-Chief, succeeding the late Achmad Zainal Arifin, Ph.D., who sadly passed away earlier that year.
