Retraction, Withdrawal, & Correction Policy
Article Withdrawal and Correction Policy
At the Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif, we regard the published content as the definitive record of scholarly work, available for citation and reference via its Digital Object Identifier (DOI). Our commitment to the permanence and integrity of the scholarly record is paramount, and we adhere strictly to guidelines that ensure the accuracy and reliability of our publications.
General Guidelines
Our content, once published online or in print, is considered the final "Version of Record"—a permanent scholarly record that should remain unchanged to preserve the history of academic discourse. In line with this commitment, any changes to an article post-publication are handled through post-publication notices, ensuring transparency and integrity. Corrections are limited to those necessary for the comprehension and accuracy of the content, including essential metadata adjustments for discoverability.
Post-Publication Corrections and Withdrawals
Corrections to published work are addressed by issuing a correction notice rather than altering the original article. This approach maintains the integrity of the original publication while providing clarity on necessary amendments. Corrections may include but are not limited to significant errors that affect the interpretation of data or findings, as well as important metadata inaccuracies. Changes to authorship will be carefully considered in line with COPE guidelines and may require thorough investigation.
Minor errors that do not impact the article's scientific integrity or understanding—such as typographical mistakes—generally do not merit correction. We consider corrections within 12 months of original publication, with exceptions made under extraordinary circumstances at the discretion of Global Educational Research Review and its editorial team.
Withdrawals are guided by the principles of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) and the International Publishers’ Association (IPA), focusing on ethical violations, legal disputes, or the identification of false data that could pose serious health risks.
Types of Correction Notices
- Erratum: Issued for production errors introduced during the publication process.
- Corrigendum: Addressing author errors that significantly impact the understanding of the article.
- Author Name Changes: In our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, we accommodate requests for name changes on published articles without inquiry into the reasons, aiming to update the record across all platforms. This policy reflects our respect for personal identity and circumstances, acknowledging the evolving nature of these practices.
Retraction and Expressions of Concern
- Retraction Notice: Applied in cases of ethical misconduct or significantly flawed research, retraction notices ensure transparency while maintaining the article's electronic accessibility marked as retracted.
- Expression of Concern: Utilized during ongoing investigations into ethical allegations or when conclusions are indeterminate, signaling to readers the current status of inquiry.
At the Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. Our policies on article withdrawal and correction are designed to maintain trust in the scholarly communication process, ensuring that our publications accurately reflect the academic record.
