Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Kajian Islam Interdisipliner (JKII) undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic integrity, objectivity, and quality. The identity of both authors and reviewers remains confidential throughout the review cycle. The following stages outline the journal’s review process:
Initial Screening
Upon submission, the Editor-in-Chief assigns the manuscript to the Managing Editor for an initial technical and editorial screening. This step ensures that the manuscript complies with the journal’s aims, scope, and formatting guidelines. Manuscripts that meet these criteria proceed to the peer review stage; those that do not may be returned to the author or rejected without external review.
Reviewer Assignment
The Managing Editor assigns the manuscript to one of the Associate Editors, who then selects and invites at least two qualified reviewers with recognized expertise in the relevant field. The review process is voluntary, and editors actively monitor reviewer responses to ensure timeliness.
Review Process
During this stage, the manuscript status is marked as “Under Review.” Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, methodological rigor, theoretical contribution, and relevance to interdisciplinary Islamic studies. Once the required reviews are completed, the status changes to “Reviews Completed.”
Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor may decide to:
- Accept the manuscript with or without minor revisions,
- Request major revisions and resubmission, or
- Reject the manuscript.
Decisions are communicated promptly to the authors along with constructive feedback from the reviewers.
Rejection and Redirection
If a submission is deemed unsuitable for JKII’s scope or academic standards, the Editor will issue a formal rejection letter and may recommend alternative journals more appropriate for the manuscript’s content.
Through this process, Jurnal Kajian Islam Interdisipliner maintains a high standard of scholarly publication, ensuring that all accepted papers have been critically evaluated and approved by experts in the field.
