Details and Guidelines for Authors on Manuscript Submission

This journal generally discusses the applications of materials in sustainable energy, biology and medicine and the applications of materials in optical, magnetic and electronic equipment. Authors are expected to review these guidelines before submitting articles. Manuscripts that do not meet these guidelines will be returned to the author for correction. This of course can cause significant delays in publication. Authors are expected to discuss issues surrounding materials science. Examples of discussions that fall within the scope of the Indonesian Journal of Materials Chemistry are as follows

  • Artificial photosynthesis
  • Battery
  • Carbon Dioxide Conversion
  • Catalysis
  • Fuel cells
  • Gas capture/separation and storage
  • Green or sustainable materials
  • Hydrogen producing and storing materials
  • Photocatalysis
  • photovoltaic
  • Self-cleaning materials
  • Self-healing materials
  • Sensor
  • Supercapacitor
  • Thermoelectric
  • Water separation and treatment

Authors are expected to ensure that their articles comply with the following general and specific requirements.

General requirements

  1. The article should cover the theme of Chemical materials.
  2. Articles must be typed in Indonesian or English
  3. Articles must be typed in one and a half spaces on A4 . size paper
  4. Articles must be between 6,000-10,000 words;
  5. The abstract in the article must be written in 1 paragraph consisting of 150-200 words, one space and in Indonesian and English;
  6. The full names of the authors in the article must be written together with the institution and full address
  7. Articles must be submitted in Open Office, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file formats
  8. Articles must be written from an objective third person point of view (using the terms "author" or "researcher" NOT "I" or "we")

Special Requirements

  1. ORIGINAL manuscript submissions will only be accepted for publication. The manuscript has not been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  2. This journal will not publish manuscripts that are revised versions of manuscripts that you publish elsewhere. To be considered original, a manuscript must contain at least 80% new material with no more than 200 consecutive words (correctly quoted) repeated verbatim from any previously published work.
  3. This journal is very concerned about the problem of plagiarism. All manuscripts will be checked for any indicated plagiarism before being accepted for publication. Please ensure that all information taken from outside sources is properly cited and that all thoughts are in the author's own words. All instances of plagiarism will be returned to the author immediately for correction and may result in the removal of the manuscript from publication.
  4. The title should be concise, specific and effective, not exceeding 15 words. Note that all titles must be included in the case title. To place the title in the case title, the first letter of each word must be capitalized unless the word is a preposition (the position of words such as "more," "with," or "between"), conjunctions (connecting words such as "and "or" but"), or articles ("a,""an,"or"the"). The only exception to this rule is that the first word of a title or subtitle is always capitalized, even if it is an article, preposition, or conjunction. The title cannot be written in all capital letters (e.g. "Chapter TITLE" is incorrect; "Chapter Title" is correct;.)
  5. Please format all titles as in the script formatting template below. The name of the Headings in your text body can be adjusted to the content of your manuscript. Note that headings and subheadings should NOT be numbered (eg, 1. Introduction, 2. Background, etc.).
  6. A manuscript can contain no more than 20 images. Any figures or tables that do not meet these minimum specifications will be returned to the author for correction. All images must be submitted as separate files in .tif format. Please also note that it is the responsibility of the author to obtain permission to use any image currently under copyright by a third party. Please see the image guide for more information.
  7. Please ensure that all information in the manuscript is taken from other sources, supported by in-text citations. A minimum of 20 sources is required for each shipment. Researchers may need to cite their previously published work to communicate ideas effectively in their current manuscript. It is important that self-cited works do not account for, at most, 50% of the total references in the manuscript.
  8. If you use symbols or equations, you can type directly into Microsoft Word or you can also use MathType to format all equations.
  9. Manuscripts submitted must be written in clear Indonesian or English with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  10. Please note that all manuscripts MUST be submitted via the online submission system/OJS. Manuscripts submitted outside the system will not be considered for publication.
