Plagiarism Policy

The author is required to submit a manuscript that is free from plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct. However, the editor of Heutagogia: Journal of Islamic Education performs a thorough double-check on each article before publication. The first step is to verify plagiarism against the offline database developed by the Faculty of Education and Teaching Science at State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The article is then cross-checked against as many online databases as possible.

Turnitin is used to assess the similarity index.

The allowable similarity threshold for articles is 15%.

Types of plagiarism include:

  1. Word-for-Word Plagiarism: The author copies text verbatim from other authors without citing the source.
  2. Source-Based Plagiarism: The author uses ideas from other sources without providing sufficient attribution (without explicitly citing the source).
  3. Authorship Plagiarism: The author claims credit for work that was actually authored by someone else.
