About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Peer Review Process
All submitted article will be independently reviewed by at least two appointed reviewers, using form of "double-blind review". This reviewing process usually takes 6-8 weeks from the date of submission. Results of this reviewing process will be categorized into three groups: (1) accepted with minor or without revision; (2) accepted with major revision; and (3) rejected. All articles with major revision will be sent back to authors to be revised within 1-2 weeks from the date when editor sent it back to the authors. In making final decision process, the third reviewer could be appointed, if necessary.
As clearly stated on the author guidelines, our reviewers will be focusing on the detailed following points:

Did your abstract include the research background, research objectives, methodology, and findings?

Did your introduction address the research background, articulate the research gap to highlight the significance of the study, and clearly state the research focus and objectives?

Did your methodology section comprehensively include the type of research conducted, the rationale for selecting this research design, data collection techniques, data analysis methods, and a theoretical framework, if applicable?

Did the author(s) present the findings clearly to the reader, discuss them in light of the chosen theories and literature, reflect on the results to provide meaningful insights, or offer recommendations for further research?

Did your conclusion summarize the research findings, highlight the key points of the discussion, and conclude with a statement on how the study contributes to the field of research while acknowledging its limitations?

Did your references exceed 20 citations, adhere to the American Sociological Association (ASA) 6th Edition Style, and were they managed using reference tools such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero?
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Publishing an article in a peer-reviewed journal such as Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif is essential for creating a consistent and respected network of knowledge. It reflects the quality of work from the authors and the institutions they represent. Articles that undergo peer review maintain and represent the principles of the scientific method. Hence, it's vital to define the expected ethical standards for everyone involved in the publication process: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the broader community.
As the publisher, the Laboratory of Sociology at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Indonesia is committed to safeguarding the integrity of the publication process and acknowledges its ethical obligations. We ensure that neither advertising, reprints, nor any commercial interests sway editorial decisions.
When authors submit their manuscripts to Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif, it implies that their work has not been published previously in any form or language, is not excerpted, and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Our editors, authors, and reviewers are dedicated to fostering ethical publication practices and accept the responsibilities defined by the COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Editors. As part of the Core Practices, COPE provides guidelines available at Ethics toolkit for a successful editorial office | COPE: Committee on Publication Ethics.
Editor Responsibilities:
- JSR editors are responsible in deciding which article will be published based on Editorial Board's policies and regulations related the issues of authorship and plagiarism
- In peer-review process and decision making to publish an article, editors do not distinguish between race, gender, religion, as well as political ideology of authors
- Editors and editorial boards will not share information related to submitted article without permission from the authors
Reviewer Responsibility:
Reviewers help editor in giving consideration of all submitted articles
- Reviewer is responsible to review submitted articles
- Review process should be done objectively and supported with clear argumentations
- Reviewer is responsible for ensuring quotations, references, and plagiarism aspect of reviewed articles
Author Responsibility:
- Author should present his or her article clearly, being honest, and concern with the issue of plagiarism
- Author should obey all publishing requirements related to originality, free from plagiarism, and have not yet published in other journals
- Author should responsible for any quotations used in his or her article by showing an adequate reference
- Author should not submit the same article to other journals and publications
Publisher Responsibility:
- JSR is responsible for publishing article through editing and reviewing processes in accordance with regulations of academic journal publication
- JSR is responsible to ensure academic freedom for editors and reviewers
- JSR is responsible for keeping personal information and protecting copyright of the article
Journal Business Model
Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif (JSR) does not have a specific business model. However, JSR receives annual grant funding from the following sources.:
- The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FISHUM), UIN Sunan Kalijaga
- The Research and Community Service Center (LPPM), UIN Sunan Kalijaga
The grant amounts vary each year, ranging from IDR 15 million to IDR 30 million. These funds are allocated primarily to provide fees for editors, reviewers, and administrative staff involved with the journal.
The utilization of these grants is reported periodically to UIN Sunan Kalijaga and is audited by the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI).
Journal History
Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif (JSR) was published in 2006 (Vol. 1 No.1, October). The purpose of the first publication of JSR was to provide a journal for lecturers at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, particularly in the Sociology Study Program, and record traces of the development of sociological theories that were very dynamic. In 2013, JSR started publishing one (1) up to two (2) articles in English, furthermore in 2017 JSR has been indexed by DOAJ and has started to recruit more reviewers and editors from other countries.
