Author Fees and Waiver Policy

Updated on 17 Oktober 2025

1. Publication Fee

To support the sustainability of Al-Mazaahib: Journal of Comparative Islamic Law, authors are subject to an Article Processing Charge (APC) only upon acceptance for publication.

Article Processing Charge (APC): USD 150 or IDR 2,400,000

Book Review Processing Charge: None

Payment Timing: The fee is payable only after the manuscript has been formally accepted following peer review.

APC is paid after receiving notification/invoice via email (after the article has been revised based on the reviewer's comments and accepted by the editor).

There are no submission charges at any stage of the review process.

2. Editorial Independence and Integrity

In accordance with COPE guidelines, Al-Mazaahib ensures that all editorial decisions are made independently of any financial considerations.

Editors and reviewers are not involved in any aspect of fee processing or communication about payments.

Decisions to accept or reject a manuscript are based solely on scholarly merit, research quality, and ethical compliance.

The payment or non-payment of fees does not influence editorial judgment in any way.

3. Transparency and Fair Application

All author fees, waiver policies, and available discounts are clearly disclosed on the journal’s website to ensure transparency and fairness.

Any changes to the fees or waiver policy will be publicly announced before implementation.

4. Waiver and Discount Policy

Al-Mazaahib is committed to promoting equitable access to publication opportunities for all authors, regardless of economic background.

Full Waiver: Available for authors who are financially disadvantaged (classified as fakir or miskin) or unable to pay due to institutional or national circumstances.

Partial Discount: A 50% discount is given to authors whose income is below the regional minimum wage (UMR) of their area.

A proposal for a total APC waiver or a 50% discount can be made upon notification of the invoice and sent to the publisher's email address: almazaahib.jph@uin-suka.ac.id.

Waiver requests are reviewed confidentially and evaluated independently of the editorial process.

We firmly believe that financial limitations should not prevent high-quality research from being published.

5. Ethical Commitment

Al-Mazaahib upholds the principles of editorial transparency, fairness, and independence.

Both authors and editors are reminded to avoid any potential conflict of interest arising from financial incentives that could compromise editorial objectivity.
