Focus and Scope

Jurnal Restorasi Hukum is an open-access peer-reviewed journal which aims to offer a national academic platform for legal sciences and Sharia. It includes research articles, both normative-doctrinal and empirical/field.
 
The scope of articles published in this journal covers a wide range of topics, including Criminal Law; Civil Law; International Law; Constitutional Law; Administrative Law; Economic Law; Medical Law; Customary Law; Environmental Law; Islamic Law; Islamic Family Law; Sharia Economic Law; Islamic Criminal Law

Peer Review Process

Research articles submitted to this journal will undergo a double-blind peer-review process. All research articles are reviewed by at least two qualified experts. Reviewers provide valuable scholarly comments to improve the content of the manuscript.

Double-Blind Peer Review
In the review process, the authors and reviewers do not know each other.
Policy of Reviewers:

  1. To provide comments and corrections to the manuscript
  2. To make a summary of the complete assessment sheet
  3. To provide clear suggestions or advice to the editor
  4. If the reviewer recommends "acceptance" by the revision, describe clearly how the revisions should be made
  5. If the reviewer recommends "reject" it must provide alternative journals or suggestion, so the prospect of "resubmission" or "submission" elsewhere will become possible

Several Parameters for Evaluating Manuscript:

  1. Are the data and information on the manuscript new and original?
  2. Does the manuscript contribute significantly to advancing science?
  3. Has a similar material been published elsewhere?
  4. Is the substance of the manuscript more suitable in other journals?
  5. Is the reference current or up to date and completely mentioned in the manuscript?
  6. Methods part of the manuscript aligned with the aim of the research?
  7. The author presents the manuscript clearly and easy to read.
  8. Are there any errors of fact and calculations?
  9. Are tables on the manuscript present data clearly and concisely?
  10. Are all necessary illustrations needed on the manuscript?
  11. Is the abstract written concisely?
  12. Can the title of the manuscript represent the content of the manuscript?
  13. Is the grammar and spelling on the manuscript meet the standards?

Open Access Policy

This is an open-access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is by the BOAI definition of open access.

All publications by Jurnal Restorasi Hukum are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

 

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

 

Jurnal Restorasi Hukum is a peer-reviewed journal. This journal follows guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) facing all aspects of publication ethics and, in particular, how to handle cases of research and publication misconduct. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, the peer-reviewer­­­­­ and the publisher (Fakultas Syari’ah dan Hukum UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta). Jurnal Restorasi Hukum is dedicated to following best practices on ethical matters, errors, and retractions. The prevention of publication malpractice is one of the important responsibilities of the editorial board. Any kind of unethical behavior is not acceptable, and the journals do not tolerate plagiarism in any form.

Jurnal Restorasi Hukum adapts COPE to meet the high-quality standards of ethics for the publisher, editors, authors, and reviewers. As an essential issue, publication ethics needs to be explained clearly to improve the quality of the research worldwide. In this part, we explain the standard for editors, authors, and reviewers. Publishers don’t have the right to interfere with the integrity of the contents and only support publishing promptly.

For Editors

  1. Based on the review report of the editorial review board, the editor can accept, reject, or request modifications to the manuscript.
  2. Editors should be responsible for every article published in Jurnal Restorasi Hukum
  3. The editors may communicate with other editors or reviewers in making the final decision.
  4. An editor has to evaluate the manuscript objectively for publication, judging each on its quality without looking at nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the authors. He/she should decline his/her assignment when there is a potential of conflict of interest.
  5. Editors need to ensure the document sent to the reviewer does not contain the information of the author, and vice versa.
  6. Editors’ decisions should be informed to authors accompanied by reviewers’ comments unless they contain offensive or libelous remarks.
  7. Editors should respect requests from authors that an individual should not review the submission if these are well-reasoned and practicable.
  8. Editors and all staff should guarantee the confidentiality of the submitted manuscript.
  9. Editors will be guided by COPE flowcharts if there is suspected misconduct or disputed authorship.

 For Reviewers

  1. Reviewers need to comment on ethical questions and possible research and publication misconduct.
  2. Reviewers will do the work promptly and should notify the editor if they can not complete the work.
  3. Reviewers need to keep the confidentiality of the manuscript.
  4. Reviewers should not accept to review manuscripts in which there is a potential conflict of interest between them and any of the authors.

For Authors

  1. Author(s) affirm that the material has not been previously published and that they have not trans­ferred elsewhere any rights to the article.
  2. Author(s) should ensure the originality of the work and that they have properly cited others’ work by the format of the reference.
  3. The author (s) should not engage in plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
  4. Author(s) should ensure that they follow the authorship criteria that are taken from Jurnal Restorasi Hukumthat is explained in the instruction for the author of Jurnal Restorasi Hukum
  5. Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. It is also expected that the author will not publish redundant manuscripts or manuscripts describing the same research in more than one journal.
  6. Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. Others who have made significant contributions must be listed as co-authors. Authors also ensure that all the authors have seen and agreed to the submitted version of the manuscript and their inclusion of names as co-authors.
  7. The author(s) haven’t suggested any personal information that may make the identity of the patient recognizable in any form of description part, photograph, or pedigree.
  8. The author (s) should give the editor the data and details of the work if there are suspicions of data falsification or fabrication.
  9. If at any point in time, the author(s) discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in the submitted manuscript, then the error or inaccuracy must be reported to the editor.
  10. Authors of the journal should clarify everything that may cause a conflict of interest such as work, research expenses, consul­tant expenses, and intellectual property on the document of Jurnal Restorasi Hukum from disclosure.

Duties of Publisher

Publishers commit to ensure that commercial interest has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. Al-Mazaahib will assist in communications with other journals where this is useful to the authors. Al-Mazaahib is working closely with all related divisions to set standards for best practices on ethical matters, errors, and retractions--and is prepared to provide specialized legal review and counsel if necessary.

Screening of Plagiarism

Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are not allowed. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript submitted to this journal is original work and plagiarism-free. The authors should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

It is the editor’s routine procedure to run all submissions through plagiarism detection software. The result of manuscript screening should be under 25% of similarity. The editor has the right to decline the submission should it exceed the maximum similarity policy. Only manuscripts that are free from plagiarism and academic malpractices will be processed for publication. Plagiarism screening will be conducted using the Turnitin app.

Jurnal Restorasi Hukum does not charge authors and readers any fee. All the processes of submission, publication, and maintenance of publication are free of charge.

Journal History

The Journal of Legal Restoration was first published in print format in 2015. Then, starting from volume 5 in 2022, the Journal of Legal Restoration began publishing articles in the open journal system version.
