Author Guidelines for The Journal of Legal Restoration

The Journal of Legal Restoration is published twice a year, with issues released in June and December. The journal invites authors to submit high-quality, original articles that explore various aspects of Sharia (Islamic law) and positive law. To ensure a smooth submission process, please follow the guidelines below.

 1. Focus and Scope
We welcome scholarly articles that focus on the study of legal and Sharia (Islamic law). Articles should be analytical and examine current legal issues or case studies. Submissions must contribute to the advancement of knowledge and scholarship in both Sharia and positive law.

 2. General Submission Guidelines
   Originality: The manuscript must be the original work of the author(s) and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited, and all submissions will be screened using plagiarism detection software.
   - Language: Manuscripts may be submitted in either  Bahasa Indonesia or English. The use of clear, precise language is essential for effective communication of ideas.
   - Article Length: Submissions should be between 5000 and 8000 words, including footnotes and references.

3. Manuscript Structure
   - Title: The title should be concise and informative, reflecting the core topic of the manuscript. The title should not exceed 15 words.
   - Author Information: Provide the full name(s), institutional affiliation(s), email address(es), and ORCID iD(s) of all authors. Indicate the corresponding author.
   - Abstract: An abstract of 200 - 250 words should be provided in Indonesian and English. The abstract must briefly summarize the article's research question, methodology, findings, and conclusions.
   - Keywords: Provide 3-5 keywords in both Indonesian and English, related to the main topics of the manuscript.

 4. Formatting Requirements
   - Software: Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word.
   - Font: The font type should be Constantia, with a font size of 12.
   - Line Spacing and Margins: The manuscript should be single-spaced, with the following margin settings on A4-sized paper:
     - Top: 3 cm
     - Bottom: 4 cm
     - Left: 4 cm
     - Right: 3 cm

5. Citations and Footnotes
   - Citation Style: All citations must follow the 17th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style (full note) format. Footnotes should be used to reference sources, and they should include full bibliographic information on the first mention.
   - Footnote Example:
     - First citation: John Smith, The Study of Islamic Law (New York: Oxford University Press, 2020), 45.
     - Subsequent citation: Smith, The Study of Islamic Law, 45.
   - Bibliography: A full list of references should be included at the end of the manuscript, following the same Chicago style.

6. Submission Process
   - Submission Platform: Authors must submit their manuscripts via the journal's online submission system. If there are any technical difficulties, authors should contact the editorial team for assistance.
   - File Format: The manuscript should be submitted in Word (.doc or .docx) format.
   - Revision Process: After submission, the manuscript will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Authors may be asked to revise their work based on the feedback from reviewers and editors.
   - Editorial Decision: The final decision (accept, revise, or reject) will be communicated to the corresponding author within 6-8 weeks of submission.

 7. Ethical Considerations
   - Plagiarism: All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism. Articles that do not meet originality standards will be rejected.
   - Authorship: Only those who have contributed substantially to the manuscript should be listed as authors. Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
   - Research Ethics: Authors must adhere to ethical standards in their research, ensuring proper consent, confidentiality, and respect for subjects involved in their study.

 8. Publication Ethics
   - The Journal of Legal Restoration adheres to ethical publishing practices as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors are expected to maintain the highest standards of integrity in their research.

9. Copyright and Licensing
   - Upon acceptance, the authors retain the copyright to their work but grant the journal the right to publish the article under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This permits others to share and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes, provided proper credit is given to the authors.

10. Publication Timeline
   - The Journal of Legal Restoration is published biannually, with issues released in June and December. To be considered for the June issue, submissions must be received by April 30th; for the December issue, the deadline is October 31st.
