Reformasi pendidikan bagi umat Islam di manapun, termasuk di Indonesia merupakan suatu keharusan. Hal ini dikarenakan, pendidikan merupakan aset yang paling penting bagi penyiapan generasi masa depan suatu masyarakat. Thoha Husain merupakan salah satu dari sosok umat Islam yang telah melakukan reformasi pendidikan bagi umat Islam. Gagasan Thoha Husain meskipun memunculkan kontroversi, tidak lepas dari upaya menginterpretasi atas al-Qur'an secara kontekstual. Apa yang digagas Thoha, meskipun dilakukan di Mesir memiliki benang merah bagi upaya reformasi pendidikan bagi umat Islam Indonesia.
