Post Publication

Post-Publication Discussion

The Journal of Business Management and Islamic Banking (JBMIB) supports constructive, evidence-based scholarly discussion of articles after publication. In line with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the journal provides an avenue for readers, authors, and researchers to submit substantive comments, questions, and critical evaluations of published work. This process aims to promote scholarly dialogue while protecting the integrity of the published record.

Submission of Scholarly Critiques

Post-publication critiques may be submitted to the JBMIB editorial office using the contact information provided on the journal website. Submissions should identify the article concerned, including its title and DOI or URL where available, explain the specific issues raised, and provide reasoned arguments supported by relevant scholarly evidence. Authors of critiques must disclose any relevant competing interests.

Depending on their content and scholarly purpose, submissions may be considered for publication as Letters to the Editor, commentaries, or other appropriate forms of scholarly correspondence.

Editorial Assessment and Peer Review

The Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor will evaluate each critique for relevance, scholarly substance, evidential support, clarity, and ethical appropriateness. Where necessary, JBMIB may request additional information, consult independent experts, or arrange peer review. Editorial decisions will be made impartially, with appropriate measures to identify and manage competing interests.

Submissions containing unsupported accusations, personal attacks, defamatory statements, or repetitive correspondence that offers no substantive scholarly contribution may be declined.

Opportunity for Author Response

When a substantive critique is considered suitable for publication, the journal will normally share it with the original author(s) and invite them to respond within a reasonable deadline communicated by the editorial office. Any author response may be subject to editorial assessment or independent peer review.

If the original author(s) decline to respond or fail to respond within the specified deadline, this will not, by itself, prevent publication of a critique that meets the journal's scholarly and ethical standards. The absence of a response will not be interpreted as an admission that the critique is correct.

Publication and Transparency

Accepted critiques and author responses may be published as Letters to the Editor, commentaries, or other appropriate forms of scholarly correspondence. Where practicable, JBMIB will publish the critique and response together and provide clear links between the correspondence and the original article.

Published discussions will be subject to appropriate editorial oversight. Relevant disclosures, including competing interests where applicable, will be included to promote transparency and accountability.

Corrections and Research Integrity Concerns

If a critique identifies a potentially significant error, unreliable finding, or research integrity concern, the editorial office will assess whether further action is warranted. Depending on the evidence and the outcome of the assessment, JBMIB may issue a clarification, correction, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with its Corrections and Retractions Policy.

Allegations of research or publication misconduct will be handled in accordance with the journal's Allegations of Research Misconduct policy. Scholarly disagreement alone does not constitute misconduct and does not automatically justify a correction or retraction.

Guiding Principles

This policy is informed by the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, developed by COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, and WAME, and COPE's guidance on Handling of Post-Publication Critiques.
