Authorship and Contributorship Policy

Authorship in Jurnal Moderasi: The Journal of Ushuluddin, Islamic Thought, and Muslim Societies is reserved for individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to a manuscript and are willing to take responsibility for its content. Authorship represents both academic credit and accountability for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the published work.

Authors are expected to contribute substantially to one or more aspects of the research, including conceptualization, research design, data or source collection, data analysis, fieldwork, textual and manuscript research, interpretation of Qur’anic or hadith materials, translation or transliteration, manuscript writing, or critical revision for significant intellectual content.

All authors must review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission. Submission confirms that all listed authors have agreed to the submission, all sources have been appropriately acknowledged, and no individual who qualifies for authorship has been omitted.

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the journal throughout submission, peer review, revision, production, and post-publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that the author list, institutional affiliations, funding information, conflict of interest declarations, research ethics statements, and disclosures of generative AI use are complete and accurate.

Individuals who have contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship may be acknowledged, with their permission. Such contributions may include proofreading, language editing, technical assistance, transcription, administrative support, access to archives or research sites, and general supervision.

Jurnal Moderasi does not permit honorary, gift, guest, coercive, or ghost authorship. Any suspected authorship misconduct may be subject to editorial investigation and may result in rejection, correction, or other appropriate action in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies.

The order of authors must be agreed upon by all authors before submission. Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be submitted in writing to the editorial office, accompanied by the agreement of all authors concerned. Changes to authorship after acceptance will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and subject to editorial approval.

For manuscripts with multiple authors, Jurnal Moderasi may request an author contribution statement specifying each author's role in the research and preparation of the manuscript.

Artificial intelligence tools, chatbots, and other automated systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Any substantive use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools must be disclosed in accordance with the journal’s Generative AI Policy.
