Data Sharing and Reproducibility Policy
Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif (JSR) is committed to upholding transparency, research integrity, and reproducibility in scholarly publications. This policy is guided by relevant principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) concerning responsible data sharing and the verification and reproducibility of research findings.
1. Data Availability: Authors are encouraged to make research data, analytical materials, coding procedures, research instruments, and other supporting documentation accessible whenever feasible. These materials may include survey datasets, interview data, observation records, analytical scripts, or other evidence supporting the reported findings. Every published article must include a Data Availability Statement indicating whether the underlying research data and supporting materials can be accessed.
2. Data Availability Statement: Authors must clearly indicate whether the data and supporting research materials are available, identify where they may be obtained, and explain any conditions or limitations governing their accessibility.
3. Restrictions on Data Access: Public disclosure of research data is not required when legitimate ethical, legal, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, data-use agreement, or other restrictions prevent their release. This is particularly relevant to sociological research involving sensitive personal information, confidential interviews, or vulnerable research participants. Where access is restricted, authors must explain the justification and, whenever possible, provide information about the procedures through which access may be requested.
4. Reproducibility: Authors are expected to describe their research methods and analytical procedures with sufficient clarity and detail to enable other researchers to understand, assess, verify, and, where feasible, reproduce the study. Depending on the research design, relevant information may include data collection procedures, sampling strategies, research instruments, coding frameworks, analytical techniques, datasets, software and version details, analytical scripts, and methodological parameters.
5. Data Verification and Integrity: JSR editors may request access to relevant research data, analytical documentation, source code, or other supporting materials when necessary to assess the credibility and accuracy of reported findings. If substantial concerns emerge regarding the authenticity, integrity, or reliability of research data, JSR may undertake an appropriate examination and implement editorial measures consistent with its publication ethics policies and relevant COPE guidance.
6. JSR Policy Statement on Data Sharing and Reproducibility: Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif (JSR) promotes the responsible availability and sharing of research data and supporting materials to strengthen scholarly transparency, accountability, and reproducibility. The journal recognizes that data sharing must remain consistent with applicable ethical, legal, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, and research participant protection requirements.
