Intellectual Property Policy

Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif (JSR) is committed to recognizing and safeguarding intellectual property rights associated with scholarly manuscripts and published research. This policy is guided by relevant publication ethics principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to authors, editors, reviewers, and all other individuals involved in the journal's editorial and publication activities.

1. Intellectual Property Ownership: Authors are responsible for ensuring that all materials incorporated into their submissions, including research data, interview transcripts, survey instruments, analytical frameworks, software, images, tables, methodological tools, and other scholarly resources, do not violate the intellectual property rights of third parties.

Publication in JSR does not automatically transfer ownership of intellectual property associated with the research when such rights legally remain with the authors or other legitimate rights holders.

2. Third-Party Materials: Authors must secure the necessary permissions or authorizations before incorporating copyrighted or otherwise protected materials belonging to third parties. Such materials may include photographs, illustrations, tables, research datasets, interview materials, software, source code, or other intellectual works.

All third-party materials must be appropriately acknowledged and attributed in accordance with the permissions granted, applicable licenses, or other relevant conditions governing their use.

3. Data, Software, and Code: Authors must ensure that their use of research datasets, analytical software, source code, computational models, algorithms, and other digital research resources complies with applicable intellectual property regulations and licensing requirements.

When the accessibility or use of these resources is subject to restrictions, authors should clearly identify the relevant limitations and, whenever feasible, provide sufficient information to enable readers to understand, verify, or reproduce the research through lawful means.

4. Author Responsibilities: Authors are required to ensure that their submitted manuscripts and accompanying materials may be lawfully published, do not infringe the intellectual property rights of others, and have obtained all necessary permissions for materials owned by third parties.

Any allegations, disputes, or claims concerning intellectual property infringement associated with author-supplied materials may be examined and addressed by JSR under its established publication ethics policies.

5. Handling Alleged Infringement: When JSR receives a report or allegation concerning possible intellectual property infringement, the editorial team may request clarification, documentation of ownership, or evidence of the necessary permissions. The journal may subsequently conduct an appropriate editorial assessment and determine the measures required to address the concern.

For articles that have already been published, such measures may include issuing a correction, removing infringing content, publishing an Expression of Concern, or retracting the article when justified by the seriousness and consequences of the infringement.
