Privacy Policy
This policy applies to the website and editorial workflow of Jurnal Pendidikan Islam (JPI), including user accounts (authors, reviewers, editors), submissions, peer review, and publication processes.
1. What data we collect

Account & profile data: name, email, affiliation, country, ORCID (if provided), role(s) in the system.

Submission & publication data: manuscript files and metadata (title, abstract, keywords, references), author contributions, funding information, competing interests, ethical approvals, AI-use disclosures, and post-publication updates (corrections/retractions).

Peer-review data: reviewer invitations/acceptances, reports, recommendations, and decision history (normally handled double-blind).

Technical data: IP address, browser/user-agent, log timestamps; cookies to maintain sessions and user preferences.

Communications: emails and in-system messages related to the editorial workflow.
2. Why we collect data (purposes & legal bases)

Editorial workflow & publication: to receive, review, edit, publish, preserve, and index scholarly content (contract/legitimate interests).

Communication: decision letters, revision requests, reviewer invitations and reminders (contract/legitimate interests).

Indexing & discoverability: deposit metadata/DOIs with Crossref and share metadata with indexing/archiving services (legitimate interests).

Integrity & compliance: similarity checks (e.g., plagiarism detection), ethics records, and audit trails (legitimate interests/legal obligations).

Analytics & platform security: usage statistics, performance, and abuse prevention (legitimate interests/consent where required).
3. Cookies

Essential cookies maintain log-in sessions and workflow state.

Analytics cookies may be used to understand site usage; where required by law, analytics cookies are opt-in via a consent banner.
4. How we share data
We share data only as needed to operate the journal:

Editorial participants: editors and (blinded) reviewers.

Service providers: platform hosting/IT support; preservation networks (e.g., PKP PN/LOCKSS); indexing/abstracting services (e.g., Crossref for DOI deposits; other indexers per journal listing); similarity-check services (e.g., iThenticate) for submitted content.

Public metadata: upon publication, article metadata and files are publicly available under the journal’s open-access license.

Legal compliance: we may disclose information when required by law or to protect users and the integrity of the scholarly record.
5. Data location & international transfers
Servers and service providers may be located outside your country. By using this site, you consent to cross-border data transfers subject to reasonable safeguards.
6. Data retention

Published record: article files and metadata are retained permanently to preserve the scholarly record.

Manuscripts not accepted: retained for a limited period for audit and integrity checks, then deleted or anonymized.

Accounts & logs: retained as long as needed to operate the service and meet legal/audit requirements; server logs are kept only as long as necessary for security and troubleshooting.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law (e.g., GDPR), you may access, rectify, erase, or export your personal data; request restriction or object to processing; and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. To exercise rights, contact us (see Section 10).
8. Security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (least-privilege access, encrypted transport, role-based permissions, backups). No method is 100% secure; we strive to protect data and will act promptly on any suspected breach.
9. Children’s privacy
This site and its services are intended for academic users. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 (or the age defined by local law). If you believe a minor has provided data, please contact us.
