Direct Marketing Policy

This policy governs direct marketing conducted by Jurnal Pendidikan Islam (JPI), including email announcements (e.g., calls for papers), issue alerts, newsletters, reviewer/editor recruitment, and surveys. It does not cover display advertising (see Advertising Policy).

1. Principles

  • Relevance & integrity. Communications target audiences reasonably likely to be interested in JPI’s scope. Messaging is accurate, non-misleading, and scholarly in tone.

  • Consent & control. Recipients can opt in and opt out at any time; every marketing email includes a clear unsubscribe link.

  • Editorial independence. Marketing has no influence on editorial or peer-review decisions; there is no fast-track or pay-to-publish route.

  • Privacy first. Personal data are handled per the Privacy Policy; we do not sell or rent mailing lists.

2. What we may send

  • CFPs / Special Issue invitations (approved by the Editor-in-Chief, with scope, timeline, and guest editor details).

  • Issue alerts and journal news (policy updates, APC/waiver notices, platform maintenance).

  • Reviewer/editor recruitment relevant to expertise.

  • Voluntary surveys to improve the journal.

Frequency: limited and reasonable (typically ≤ 2 emails per month). No unsolicited phone calls or messaging app blasts.

3. Who we contact & how we obtain addresses

  • Opt-in users (registered authors/reviewers/editors who consented to receive updates).

  • Prior correspondents (e.g., corresponding authors) under legitimate interests, limited to content related to JPI’s scope—always with opt-out.

  • Public academic contacts (institutional webpages/rosters) relevant to the journal’s field—used sparingly and with opt-out.

  • We do not use purchased, rented, or harvested email lists; we do not target minors.

4. Unsubscribe & preferences

  • Each message provides an unsubscribe link or simple reply instructions.

  • Unsubscribe requests are honored promptly (normally within 5 business days).

  • We maintain a suppression list to prevent future sends to opted-out addresses.

5. Data protection & processors

  • Personal data used for marketing are processed under consent or legitimate interests (as applicable) and kept no longer than necessary.

  • Third-party email services (if used) act as data processors under written agreements and may not use data for their own purposes.

  • Cross-border transfers follow the safeguards described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Special Issues & guest editors

  • All CFPs for special issues must be approved by the Editor-in-Chief before distribution.

  • Guest editors may not send mass solicitations from personal accounts using lists obtained through JPI data.

  • Conflicts of interest must be declared; editorial standards remain unchanged.

7. Complaints & contact

Concerns about direct marketing (e.g., unwanted messages, inaccurate content) can be sent to the Journal Office. We investigate and, where appropriate, remediate (including removal from lists).
